If you never heard about it, Codiad is a super convenient web based file manager<\/span>. It provides an IDE and even a command line<\/span> interface.<\/p>\n

We are happy to announce that it is now integrated with Themecloud<\/span> so you can save even more time managing your websites!<\/p>\n

Don’t know what to use it for? Here are a few use cases.<\/p>\n

1. Modifying the wp-config file<\/h2>\n

Let’s say you want to enable the debug mode in your wp-config.php file following a bug on your website.<\/p>\n

  1. connect to Codiad<\/li>\n
  2. double click<\/span> your wp-config.php file<\/li>\n
  3. An IDE opens in the right panel, type \u00ab\u00a0true\u00a0\u00bb in the \u00ab\u00a0wp-debug\u00a0\u00bb option line<\/li>\n
  4. press \u00ab\u00a0ctrl+s\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0cmd+s\u00a0\u00bb to save the file.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    All done \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

    Way easier and faster than downloading the file through FTP<\/span>, editing it locally and uploading it, don’t you think?<\/p>\n

    2. Safely update a premium plugin<\/h2>\n

    Let’s say you want to update a premium plugin but want to be able to rollback in case the update breaks something on your website.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. create backup of your site (either on your Themecloud dashboard or with your favorite backup tool)<\/li>\n
    2. connect to Codiad and double click<\/span> the wp-content\/plugins folder<\/li>\n
    3. right click<\/span> the plugin folder and rename it with \u00ab\u00a0-old\u00a0\u00bb at the end<\/li>\n
    4. right click<\/span> the \u00ab\u00a0wp-content\/plugins\u00a0\u00bb folder and upload the zip archive of the updated version<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. right click<\/span> the zip file and select \u00ab\u00a0unzip\u00a0\u00bb<\/li>\n
    6. test the website!<\/li>\n
    7. if anything is broken just delete the new version<\/span> and rename the old one \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      3. Use command lines to quickly delete a bunch of files<\/h2>\n

      Let’s say you want to delete 200 pictures all starting with \u00ab\u00a0PIC\u00a0\u00bb. You might not want to do it manually right? Let’s see how to do that in less than 30s!<\/p>\n
